Back in the saddle!

This post is Eric's first foray into the world of blogging (a big step):

Well as this winter is coming to a close (finally) Anna and I needed something fun to do with part of our 2008 tax return. We talked about a trip, but never landed on anything. What we did decide on is to invest in a couple of new sets of wheels. I spent much of last summer riding my 1993 Trek 930 mountain bike on some trails near our house. Although the Trek has been a longtime loyal companion it was time to upgrade to something more trail worthy. I spent a bunch of time doing research, reading reviews and checking the local bike shops.

Finally last weekend Anna decided that she would join me to see what I was hunting for. Not one to be fully interested in the the world of two wheeled peddle power Anna was a bit sceptical. Then as we walked into Bicycle Sports in Rochester her eyes met a beautiful emerald green 2008 Specialized Langster Seattle edition http://www.specialized.com/bc/SBCBkModel.jsp?spid=32829 . This bike is a thing of beauty! Quickly our trip turned into a new bike for Eric adventure to Anna asking "can I get it?" We hit a few more shops in town with the focus back on the mountain bike search (I had also seen a nice Gary Fisher Cobia 29er at Bicycle Sports). None of the other shops in Roch had much of what I was looking for.
After our search it was time to decide if we were serious about these bikes. We debated and talked and talked ourselves out of the purchases and then back in.

Needless to say Eric will be hitting the trails this summer on a new Gary Fisher Cobia 29er http://www.fisherbikes.com/bike/model/cobia. Anna has again accepted her love of all things beautiful and welcomed the Langster Seattle into her life. She is already excited about riding to work and around town. Even more so I think she is excited about accessorizing. Baskets, bells, lights, etc are in the CC's future (oh yeah, CC is her bike's name, short for coffee cruiser. Get it, Seattle=Starbucks=coffee cruiser). This thing even comes with it's own coffee cup holder.

Today we took the new bikes on their inaugural ride. We took them from SE Rochester up to NW Roch to stop by Erik's Bike shop to get Anna a helmet and lock. It was a great ride and both bike performed beautifully. We look forward to the summer riding season and sharing it with many of our friends. If you are ever in town lets go for a ride.

Proud peddlers,
Eric and Anna
