We're Alive!

Sorry, friends, for not updating in forever! We survived our Boundary Waters Canoe trip mostly in tact, with only our pride hurt. We ventured out into the wilderness last wed. morning with two other couples, three canoes, a dog, and six hefty packs! After just one short paddle and portage Eric and I found ourselves- and all our gear- in the water. With hundreds of mosquitoes buzzing in my face, trudging through the COLD water- all I could think was that I'd been duped! Eric, his parents, and others had assured me that canoes almost never tip. And with the mosquitoes, wet clothes, and bruised butt- I wanted OUT. All was not lost, though, as Eric had expertly packed our belongings in waterproof bags. So we found a site quickly (probably not more than .2 miles away from our starting point!) and dried out.

The second day proved to be a beautiful day for roughin it. We paddled a few miles and portaged a couple longer trails and found ourselves a beautiful site on a lovely little lake.
The weather cooperated for the most part- and we had a great time swimming, paddling the lake, and just hanging out. In fact, I just might be convinced to try it again some time.
